Meet Janis

Qualified Humanistic Counsellor

Registered with BACP

Hello and welcome!

I am a BACP-registered therapist and alongside my private practice I also volunteer at a charitable agency as a counsellor. Life experiences and illness prompted me to seek counselling many years ago which enabled me to let go of negative thoughts and behaviours. This changed my life. I went on to train as a counsellor and use my skills and experience to help others also make positive and lasting changes in their lives.

I understand how daunting it can feel to take the initial steps towards therapy.  When your feelings are difficult to understand and manage, being able to talk freely and openly about what is happening for you can help you to develop new insights, growth and healing in your life.

MY APPROACH

I offer a safe, non-judgemental and welcoming environment where we can explore together, in confidence, the issues or challenges you are experiencing.  I strive to work relationally as I believe it is through the development of this trusting therapeutic relationship where you can feel able to look at yourself and seek an understanding of your own thoughts, feelings and behaviours.  I will be alongside you, supporting you as you explore your own issues at your own pace.  We will work together as you come to find your own answers to develop a better relationship with yourself and others going forward in your life.

I am a Humanistic Counsellor which means I draw from many therapeutic modalities such as Person-centred, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, among others.  This allows me to work flexibly to adapt our work to fit your individual needs…..all you need to do is take the first step!
